Thanks for your comments. If it was not for Apple we would have never seen decline of operator VAS in the US and Europe. I think Android coming into low end and having little control of VAS for the Indian operators will also level this field – it is only a matter of time.

Hi Paul,

Unfortunately they’re still playing by the same rules when it comes to vendor relationships on VAS, and the same dream of “Once we deploy 3G, people will use Video Conferencing….. the same old spiel. You know how it plays out.

I’m hopeful that better sense will prevail quickly. After all the world is now in an internet cloud We CAN learn from experiences in different geographic markets.

Paul,
Very interesting article, something that I have been wondering about myself. With network storage becoming cheap and easily available, having a service like Jam11, but running off the storage device could be a more interesting option. These are always on at home, large storage space and allow multiple devices to stream off it easily.

Software development for all these platforms will need to be revolutionized. How can one develop software once and easily customize it for the multitude of platforms? There is Chrome plugins, Firefox plugins in addition to the App stores above.
